The retina is the light-sensitive tissue lining the inside of the eye. It is made up of millions of individual cells and captures light after it enters the eye. This visual information is then transferred to the brain via the optic nerve. Retinal diseases and conditions are those which localize to the retina and/or surrounding tissues.
