Justin Yamanuha, MD

Dr. Justin Yamanuha completed his Ophthalmology Residency at the University of Wisconsin in Madison and his first fellowship in Medical Retina at the Bascom Palmer Eye Institute in Palm Beach Gardens, Florida. He then practiced Medical Retina at the Mayo Clinic Rochester and the Mayo Clinic Health System in La Crosse, Wisconsin for three years before returning to Florida to complete his second fellowship in Uveitis (ocular inflammation) at the Bascom Palmer Eye Institute in Miami. He received the Fellow of the Year award from the Residents at Bascom Palmer.
Dr. Yamanuha moved to Minnesota to become a Faculty Member at the University of Minnesota Department of Ophthalmology and Visual Neurosciences in 2019 and was promoted to Associate Professor in 2024. During his six years at the University of Minnesota, he served as Director of Medical Student Education in the Department of Ophthalmology and collaborated with numerous medical students, ophthalmology residents, and vitreoretinal surgery fellows on manuscripts, posters, and oral presentations on ocular inflammatory and retinal diseases. He was awarded Teaching Attending of the Year by the Ophthalmology Residents in 2021 and selected as a Top Doctor Rising Star by Mpls. St. Paul magazine as well as a Castle Connolly Top Doctor.
Dr. Yamanuha joined Retina Consultants of Minnesota in January 2026 where he will continue to care for adults and children with ocular inflammatory and medical retinal diseases. Dr. Yamanuha is an active member of the Association for Research in Vision and Ophthalmology, the American Uveitis Society, and the Minnesota Academy of Ophthalmology.
